The two went to Media to the archeological site. They had found the burial remains of what they thought was ThoraSara and ThorIan with their spouses. The man was working on what he hoped was ThorIan when he came across the ring. He looked at it closely then put it in his pants pocket. He moved over to where they thought ThoraSara was and he began working on that site. He came across a metal box looking around to make sure no one was watching he opened the box and found the white miniature rose. He closed the box and put it in his pocket too. He went to his tent to pack as they were leaving the next day. He changed his clothes and put the pants in with his dirty clothes. They had been at the site for two months and this was all he had found. He was glad to be leaving he was tired of this digging. Maybe what he found would get him enough money he wouldn't have to come back again.

It was late September when he arrived home. The night he got back he got a call from a hospital. His brother with his family had been in a car accident. They were in bad shape and he needed to come, as the boy was not hurt. He went to the hospital and met with the Doctors. He went into see his brother.
"Take care of our boys."
"You will be ok and take care of them yourself."
"Take care of them. Tell them we love them."
"Ok, but you will be fine." As soon as he had finished saying this his brother died. His sister-in-law had died just a few minutes before.
He took the young boy home with him. The boy didn't have a scratch on him.
"Where is Mommy and Daddy?"
"They had to stay at the hospital. Now go to sleep."
A few days later a lawyer contacted him telling him he became the legal guardians of the two boys. He was dazed. He was wondering what he was going to do with two kids. Me and kids, No Way!! I don't mind visiting with them but for me to raise them forget it. Promise or not besides my brother should have known better.
-----------------------------------Life Changes------------------------------------
The next day he got a telephone call it was from Irons.
"We need to talk about the older boys education as to whether it shall continue now that his parents are dead."
"Mr. Irons, I will inform you I have no intentions of raising the boys. I plan to put them in a orphanage as soon as possible so they can be adopted. My apartment is too small and I can't afford to raise them. Please bring him here as soon as it is convenient for you to do so."
"I would like to meet with you before you make any arrangements. Could I meet with you today in about an hour?"
"Sure, why not."

A short time later Irons arrived at his apartment. "Come in and have a seat, Mr. Irons. Tell me what you have on your mind?"
Irons watched the small boy play with building blocks for a moment. "How old is the boy? Is he potty trained?"
"He'll be two on the eleventh. Yes, since he was a year old."
"May I see the boy closer?"
"Sure." He went over to the boy taking his hand and brought him over in front of Irons.
The boy stood and looked Irons in the eyes. "Where is my Mommy and Daddy?"
Irons looked at the man. "I haven't told him. Have you told the other one?"
"Yes." Irons than looked at the boy. "Your parents are dead. They are not coming back." He watched the boys body and facial reactions.
"Why?" was all the boy said.
"The car they were in crashed and they got hurt too bad to fix and they died in the hospital."
The boy lowered his head one tear ran down his face and turned to the right looking at his Uncle. "I understand."
Irons saw something behind his left ear. "Why don't you go back and play with the blocks?"
He moved away from Irons and sat back down in the same exact place he had gotten up from. Irons watched. Instead of starting to play again the boy started picking up the blocks putting them away.
"I will take the boy as I already a have the other one." Irons said.
"I don't know about that? Mr. Irons."
"I'll give you $100,000.00 for your concern. All you have to do is sign the boys over to me making me their guardian."
"A $100,000.00?"
"Alright $150,000.00 to ease your conscience? I will also back your little excursions that you make to Media."
"Where do I sign?" he said.
Irons took out the document and pointed "Sign here."
"I'll take the boy with me today."
He signed the paper and Irons gave him a cashiers check.
"Give me a few minutes with the boy."
"Bring him to the car when youre done." Irons left extremely pleased at only having to part with $150,000.00 he was willing to pay $500,000.00 for the boy.
"Sure thing." He went to the boy. "You will be going to live with Mr. Irons. He can take care of you better than I can. You will be happier with him."
The boy just looked at him. "Will you come to visit me?"
"Just a minute I'll be right back." He went to his room and took the ring placing it on a string. He went back to the boy.
"Here I want you to have this. I will visit you just like I always have." He placed the string around the boys neck and tucked the ring inside his shirt. "Now, it's time to go."
"Ok." They left and went to the car.
The boy climbed into the car and sat down saying nothing. He didn't even look out the window as they drove away. He just looked straight ahead.

(Time moves forward to November 11th.)
I saw Irons and the boy in his living room. Irons was reading and the boy was coloring. The boy stopped and stood up with a piece of paper in his hand. He went an stood in front of Irons and waited.
Irons looked up. "What is it?"
The boy held out the paper to him. Irons took it and looked at the perfectly drawn and colored Birthday cake for a moment. "What is this?"
"It's my Birthday cake, today is my Birthday!" he said smiling.
"It is, is it?" Irons took the paper tore it up and threw it into the fire.
He then backhanded the boy sending him to the floor.
"You have no Birthdays anymore or any other special days for that fact! You understand me!"
The boy rubbed his cheek and answered "Yes, Sir" as a tear slid silently down his face. The boy pick himself up and went back to the exact place he had been sitting. He began picking up the crayons and paper without a sound.

The buzzer went off and I jerked awake hitting my head. I was stiff and it took me several minutes to be able to move around to get my left arm out from behind my back to open the top.
"It's about time. Ian! Since you have soiled yourself. Go shower and dress in the clothes I have left for you. After that you will go to the juice bar and open the icebox and drink the bottle with your name on it. I will allow you one hour to complete this. You will then go to the treadmill."
I replied "Yes, Master." I finished getting out of the box and slowly headed for the shower and my left leg was still very sore from being dislocated for the second time. I was glad that he was allowing me to shower as I had indeed soiled myself in my sleep. I thought about what I had seen and "why was I seeing it? What did it mean?"
As I showered this quote came to me.
"Quick is the succession of human events:
the cares of to-day are seldom the cares of
to-morrow; and when we lie down at night.
We may safely say to most of our trouble,
'Ye have done your worst, and we shall
meet no more.' " by Cowper
