okay, the show was on for four seasons & then there were two made-for-cable movies (which is a lot to try to summarize!). There is a website w/plenty of (mostly accurate) information, but it doesn't mention what happens in the movies:

Things you might want to look over carefully are things about Catherine Parker rescuing children, NuGenesis & the red files, Jarod's clone and anything with Jarod & Miss Parker together (as kids or adults).

Based on the story outline I currently have, what do you need to know from the Pretender movies?

(1) Jarod finally found his sister Emily (she is now, presumably, staying with their father and with Jarod's 14 year old clone) Jarod was told that The Centre doesn't want him back b/c he's a pretender; they want him back for some other, unknown reason which we later find out has to do with some mystical scrolls. Jarod & Miss Parker discover that the scrolls have a dark history with the Parker family. (This will be explained more in my story so I won't include it here.) They do find the scrolls, but Mr. Parker & The Centre come and break up the party. So Jarod finds himself once again The Centre's and Miss P's prisoner; the scrolls are placed in a box for safekeeping. Everyone's on a plane heading to Africa(long story!); Mr. Parker jumps out of the plane with scrolls - somewhere over water. The plane crashes in Morocco & Jarod escapes.

(2) Miss Parker discovers that, like her mother before her, she has a sort of ESP which her mother called her "Inner Sense"; Miss Parker asked Sydney to help her develop this talent (as he had done for her mother). Miss P also learns that her (and her twin brother Lyle's) biological father was William Raines; Raines, as it turns out, is Mr. Parker's brother (who was born sickly, disowned by Mr. Parker's father & adopted out to the Raines family). It is not made clear whether Raines had an affair with Miss P's mother (doubt it) or whether Raines was just a sperm donor for some in vitro process; the latter is more probable (& that's my theory).

(3) We learn that Jarod's mother & Miss P's mother knew each other & may have been working together to destroy The Centre.

(4) And finally, the shipper stuff: Jarod & Miss P *almost* kissed but they were interrupted (stupid old lady!) sigh. Later, Miss P & Jarod are in a limo (Jarod, The Centre & Miss P's prisoner); she has put up her emotional walls telling Jarod that it was a "moment of weakness"; actually, you should read those last few scenes which are here

What else do you need to know?

Sam is Miss Parker's loyal Sweeper (Centre security/bodyguards are called Sweepers); I was under the impression that Miss P trusted Sam, which to me means that he's not just brawn and may have more scruples than some of the other sweepers and that his loyalty is first to Miss P and second to The Centre. Another thing to note, is that Sam was (almost) always there whenever Jarod & Miss P were together (except on Carthis).

That's all the major stuff (If you are going to check out anything, the timeline will give the most info.)

A final note on timelines: Even though the first Pretender movie is called The Pretender: 2001, the events in the movie take place around May or June of 2000 [if you don't believe me, look at the memo about Mirage!]; the second movie takes place a few months later - I'm going with early December 2000 [this is based on the dates for exhibit in the museum where Jarod was working at & that it's a blizzard in Boston - yeah, could be November, too, but December works better for my story]. My story begins shortly after the second movie.

It had been a long day. After Sara and Jake had spent a couple of hours researching missing persons and investigating who could pull off a hit like the one on Jane Doe, they had gotten another call. It was a domestic dispute that had evolved into a murder-suicide. It was the first (and hopefully last) "holiday double-whammy" this season; the case was essentially closed, but that only meant a little less paperwork. Jake had then run off to do more canvassing on the Jane Doe case. Sara had headed back to the office to start on the reports for both cases. She really didn't mind writing the reports; it had always helped her organize her thoughts about a case. That it gave her an excuse not to go door-to-door with Jake was a bonus.

After finishing up her report on the murder-suicide, Sara found herself once again holding the file on D'Angelo in her hands and debating whether to look into her past. She slapped the file down on her desk. James Pezzini was my father, she thought angrily. That she was even thinking about finding her birth parents was sign that she was tired and should go home. But what if they know something about the Witchblade? How am I related to Elizabeth Bronte? Her mind kept going back to those questions, questions that Sara considered traitorous to the memory of her father.

An hour later Sara sat at her dining table, staring at the items in the box her father had left for her: a bullet with a bull engraved on the side, an empty plastic film canister, a blank cassette tape, an empty videotape case, a sheet of paper with three rows of numbers on it, a St. Catherine of the Hills prayer card, and several pictures of Sara as a little girl. She wondered if the cassette had been purposely erased and, and if so, whether anything could be recovered from it. She wondered where the film and the videotape were - did Joe have them? Did her father hide them? And if he did, did she want to find them?

She was a little disappointed that Danny hadn't popped in with words of wisdom and mildly grateful that Nottingham hadn't let himself in for a chat. She put all the items back in the box and closed it.

Sara sat at a bar. The first thing she noticed was the haze from the cigarette smoke and the unintelligible murmur of the crowd. She turned in her seat and saw men and women dressed in 40's era clothes. The soldiers' uniforms were not American. A man with a British accent introduced the band that began to play an upbeat swing tune.

"Hello, Sara," said a woman's voice on her right.

Sara turned towards the voice to find Elizabeth Bronte sitting on the barstool next to Sara. Elizabeth was perfectly coiffed, her demeanor regal and elegant, but there was this twinkle in her eye...as if she had a secret she was dying to share. She is, Sara thought, everything I'm not. How can she be where I come from?

As if reading Sara's mind, Elizabeth said, "We are related, but not in the way you think. We're the same person."

Elizabeth then smiled at her with such warmth that Sara felt tears well up in her eyes.

When Sara awoke the next morning, that was all she could recall of the dream.

Author's note: There have been some Pretender references already, but they will be explained as the story unfolds. [For example, if you are familiar with The Pretender, then you've probably guessed or know who the dead red-head is.] If you are not familiar with The Pretender, I promise that those references will be addressed.
