Btw if I want to let people know when I've updated do I have to go to my first post and change the subject line?
Also the rating's at PG 13. Since I'm not very good at this kindly inform me if it needs to be changed.
I guess that about covers it. Enjoy the story.
Disclaimer: I don't own Witchblade and it's characters and am not making any money from them. If anyone knows where I can get an Ian Nottingham for myself I will be eternally grateful to you.

Summary: Sara gets a case with an unusual witness.
A Life Less Ordinary
Chapter 1
The wind whipped and curled around Sara planting its icy tendrils up and down her spine as she exited the apartment building and made her way to her Buell. The weather was starting to turn chilly with winter just around the corner. There was also a hint of rain in the air.
Sara shivered as she got on her bike and prepared to undertake her journey to work. She fervently hoped that it did not start raining. She did not want to deal with getting wet before her shift started. Not to mention that driving on a wet road would be akin to navigating a minefield. She would have to seriously consider not driving the bike to work and maybe ask for a department car instead. However, that had its own demerits namely the cost of gas and having to keep the car heated. Somehow, she did not think her salary would be able to afford it.
With a deep sigh, she started the engine and shifted it into gear. The ride to the precinct was cold but uneventful. Sara was glad to finally make it into her office. She bypassed the department coffee. She wasn't that cold she thought, with a grimace. Maybe they should try feeding it to the criminals they hauled in. That would definitely bring the crime rate down.
Entering her office, she hung up her jacket and turned to study the blond-haired man at the desk opposite hers. Jake McCartey, California surfer dude and rookie cop was seated at his desk trying his hardest not to shiver due to the cold. He was looking miserable and Sara felt a little sorry for him. He was in a new place and had no prior experience with dealing with the low temperatures. He wasn't a bad person, he just wasn't Danny Woo.
Sara felt a tinge of sadness as she thought of her deceased partner but managed to shrug it off as she settled into her chair.
Turning to Jake, she asked "So rookie, what's new?".
He looked up at her and replied, "Nothing's come up yet. Do you want to get started on some paperwork?".
She let out a snort and turned to the pile of files that was starting to resemble a mountain on her desk. Might as well get something done before Dante decided to give her another one of his lectures. They were starting to get to her and she knew that the day wasn't far away when they would have some kind of showdown. Till that time however, Sara would be on her best behavior around the Captain. Atleast she'd give it a try.
An hour later Sara was about ready to scream and throw something at anyone. She wasn't fond of paperwork as a general rule and the pile of seemingly never ending files was starting to get to her. In fact she would have even welcomed a sermon from Dante if it meant that she could get out of the office.
She looked up from her desk and was stretching to remove the kinks in her neck when she caught Jake looking at her. He blushed when he realized she had seen him and looked back down at his desk trying to appear unobtrusive. Sara watched him for a few moments and then shrugged. Jake had a major crush on her and had been trying to get her to go out with him ever since they'd met. The rookie was kind of cute but he just wasn't her type. Although with the way her love life was panning out, she might actually wind up dating the guy.
Sara knew that men were intimidated by her because she was a cop and had earned a reputation of being tough as nails. The ones who were brave enough to risk taking her out usually never called back. They expected her to act all feminine and coy which wasn't her style. Lately she hadn't even gone on a date thanks to the innocent looking bracelet on her right wrist. The Witchblade. An ancient object of power that had chosen her to be its current wielder. Well life had certainly become a whole lot more interesting ever since she'd come in contact with it.
The sound of her phone ringing was enough to startle her out of her thoughts. Picking it up she spoke for a while and noted down some details on a pad in front of her.
When she had finished, she put down her pen and looked up to catch her partner's attention. "Hey Jake, we got ourselves a case. Let's go".
